Agony of the Heart is the second book in my Heart series. I’ve posted a sample of the first book, which happens to be my debut novel, The Religion of the Heart.I’d considered doing the same for Agony but cannot find a way to do so without spoiling the end of the first book. Instead, here is what people have said about the sequel. As a West Point graduate, I have always been very interested in the Civil War. This book is more than marvelous, because it breaks new ground, with vivid insights of Lee, Grant, Lincoln, Johnston, and Sherman-- among others-- and the strains and agony these leaders endured in April Cited by:

Magnificent Agony was an enjoyable read and the first book I have read by Katie Mettner. Her characters were well developed and real. I loved the laid back setting of Abraham and Darling/5.
